CRT-D by Boston Scientific Corporation receives CE Mark approval
Friday 28 Dec, 2007
Boston Scientific Corporation has announced CE Mark approval for its LIVIAN(TM) cardiac   resynchronisation therapy defibrillator (CRT-D) that treats heart failure and helps in protecting patients who   are at risk of sudden cardiac death. The LIVIAN CRT-D is specially designed to monitor heartbeats in heart   failure patients and deliver small electrical impulses, which may improve the heart's pumping ability. The   LIVIAN CRT-D allows clinicians to customise therapy based on a patient's individual needs. The   implantable device employs Boston Scientific proprietary technology and is designed to improve a patient's   response to cardiac resynchronisation therapy. Speaking on the same, Jim Tobin, President and Chief   Executive Officer, Boston Scientific, said, "This next-generation CRT-D offers physicians in Europe and   elsewhere even more flexibility for tailoring therapy to each patient."
