New LED technology for deep cordless surgery

Enova Medical Technologies announced that it has developed a new LED technology for cordless surgical   headlights for the first time. This breakthrough technology reaches light output levels exceeding 200,000   lux at 14 inches. This provides light intensity that is comparable to most 300-watt fiber optic xenon   headlight systems that are commonly used by "deep cavity" surgeons, such as cardio, colo-rectal, neuro,   orthopedic, thoracic, and vascular surgeons.

Enova will use its new lighting technology in the IRIS(TM) 2X Cordless Surgical Headlight, a new product   being designed specifically for deep cavity surgeons and will be released in the first quarter of 2008.

Cordless Surgical Headlights, IRIS(TM) and IRIS Ultra-lite(TM), produce LED illumination optimised for   surgical operating   rooms. Crizal coated front lens and proprietary reflector technology deliver light output   up to 100,000 lux. While IRIS can be completely cordless or powered via belt pack, IRIS Ultra-lite will be   available with belt pack only. Color temperature range for both products is of 6,200-6,500 K. Also there is   HELIOS(TM) 300 W xenon fiber optic headlight system, rated 6,000 K available.
