ATS Medical, Inc. announced the launch of its ATS 3f Aortic Bioprosthesis, which is the only valve   replacement that fully preserves native aortic root geometry. The ATS 3f incorporates design concepts   intended to preserve native aortic root geometry and function. By providing a new preparatory rinse   procedure and holder system, the product is said to help reduce the implant time considerably
.

  Functions

  ATS 3f Aortic Bioprosthesis mimics the native valve in form and function. The following are  the functions   performed by APS 3f:

• Formed in the same way as a native valve, as a collapsible tube
• Retains root geometry and function of the aortic root
• Maintains continuity between the annulus and sinotubular junction, preserving the shape and function of the sinus, resulting in:
  o Normal velocity profiles
  o Decreased flow turbulence
  o Natural distribution of stress on leaflets
• Provides a large area of leaflet coaptation, allowing the valve to compensate for naturally occurring changes in aortic geometry which may decrease chance of long-term regurgitation
• A unique holder implant system facilitates implant ease and reproducible results. The holder provides structure for placing, positioning and stitching a single suture line around inflow edge. Its inner holder helps guide and position three commissural tabs that are attached to the aortic wall.
